Antique carpet, Handwoven using handspun wool and all-natural dyes in Hamedan, western Persia. Among pictorial carpets, Hooshang Shahi carpets have a special position. The story of Hooshang Shah is one of the first stories of Ferdowsi’s Shahnameh and that is why it has become favoured among the people and has come to the carpets. According to Shahnameh, Hooshang Shah is the originator of the first kingdom in Persia. In Avesta, his name is “Heoshenge” and his nickname is “Pradetta” which means lawmaker. It is said that Hooshang is the discoverer of fire and the founder of the Sadeh Festival. He is mentioned as the ruler of the Seven Countries and the defeater of evil and also known as the architect of Persepolis. This Antique pictorial carpet show some pile wear that gives it a charming unique look.
