Isfahan Block Prints
Explore the ancient, methodical process of Qalamkar
The art of Block Print or Qalamkar dates bac about 800 years in Persia. A pen like blade is used to carve walnut wood into stamps which are then coloured with local natural dyes before being meticulously applied to the cotton fabric in multiple layers. We collaborate with a workshop in Isfahan with 200 years of experience to produce these intricate pieces.
